Soy Oil and Coronary Heart Disease Risk

A recently conducted systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials that included recovered data from the Sydney Diet Heart Study, showed non-significant trends toward increased risks of death from coronary heart disease in trials intervening with linoleic acid.  In contrast, risk was reduced in trials that intervened with a combination of omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. The omega-6:omega-3 ratio in soy oil is similar to the ratio in trials showing cardio benefits.  Therefore, the evidence suggests the fatty acid profile of soyfoods and soy oil is will afford protection against heart disease.
